Main Point: There’s only one real God.
Summary: After finding and reading God’s law, King Josiah starts taking the worship of the one real God seriously. He goes from place to place in Israel burning and smashing idols and altars. By the time he’s finished, any evidence of worshipping fake gods is gone!

Continue the lesson throughout the week: Go on a prayer walk around your neighborhood.

  • As you pass each house, pray for the people who live there to know the one real God.
  • If you know the people who live there and what they believe, add specifics to your prayers!
  • Ask God to show up in such a real way that your neighbors can’t deny who he is.
  • Ask God to use you to show your neighbors who he is!

The Ten Commandments

The First Commandment

You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean? We should fear, love and trust God above all things

You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

You shall not murder

The Sixth Commandment

You shall not commit adultery

You shall not steal

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house

The Tenth Commandment

You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
