THE COMMANDMENTS: STEALING
Main Point: We don’t lie.
Summary:  God commands his people not to lie. When Ananias and Sapphira sell their property, they lie about how much money they sell it for so they can keep some money but make it seem like they gave it all. Both of them are caught in the lie and die suddenly.
Activity Objects:  Random objects that can roll

Family Dinner Discussion: Tell the truth about something you’ve been keeping hidden.

Continue the lesson throughout the week:
Celebrate the truth about your family.

  • Work together to come up with 10 truths about your family, and write them down.
  • You may include purely happy things like, “We love to play games together.”
  • You may also add a positive ending to something harder, such as, “Sometimes we fight, but we always love each other.”
  • Hang the list of 10 truths on your fridge to celebrate the truth about who you are as a family.

The Ten Commandments

The First Commandment

You shall have no other gods.

The Second Commandment

You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.

The Third Commandment

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

The Fifth Commandment

You shall not murder

The Sixth Commandment

You shall not commit adultery

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor, betray him, slander him or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.

The Ninth Commandment

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house

The Tenth Commandment

You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
