THE COMMANDMENTS: THE SABBATH
Main Point: We have a special day for God.
Summary: We have a special day for God. The idea of Sabbath is one that isn’t talked about or done very much in our culture—even among Christians. And yet, in this age where we may be busier than ever, we need a time to rest and recharge more than ever! Show kids that God gave us this commandment as a gift, knowing that a Sabbath day each week renews us for all the tasks that lie ahead.
Family Dinner Discussion: Tell what you would do if you had a whole day with no plans.

Continue the lesson throughout the week:  Pick a day this week when you can have some family time. (If you can’t swing a full day, try finding just a few hours.)

  • Let everyone pick one thing to do together.
  • Activities should help you connect with God and each other. For example, you could…
    • have a dance party to worship music.
    • play a board game together and encourage each other while you play.
    • read a fun Christian book together.
    • go for a nature walk and point out things God created.
