We live in a world filled with all sorts of enticements and seductions, pleasing to whet the appetites of all sorts of unholy pleasures.  And so we pray, “Lord, through your patient, persevering love, keep us from that which will hurt us, or others, or, mostly, you.”  From all the times we have fallen into temptation, Jesus has redeemed us.  God’s presence and power remain with us and within us every hour we live on this earth, until that eternal time when there shall be no sin surrounding us.  –

Matthew 4:1-11
